I honestly don’t know if I’m in the majority or the minority (then again, I really don’t care), but I like The Amazing Spider-Man, a lot. No, it wasn’t perfect, but neither were Sam Raimi’s Spidey films.
Marc Webb, director of ASM, has said that he’s not world building with his films, but universe building. Considering there are already release dates set for ASM3 and 4, as well as plans for Venom and Sinister Six films, I’d say he was correct.
While out talking about ASM2, which hits theatres May 2nd, Webb had this to say about the scope of the sequel:
“It’s huge,” he says. “We’re pushing the levels of effects, the level of action and the emotional capacity of this kid. It’s an aggressive step forward.
“There are enormous sets and great set-pieces. But really it’s a very intimate song – this relationship between Peter and Gwen is very delicate and beautiful.”
