The hype machine for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 continues to churn out materials for us to gawk at. In the passed month we’ve gotten teasers for a teaser, a teaser, pictures galore, a special New Year’s Eve teaser, and buzzy interviews from the people behind the flick. It would appear that Sony wants to do anything it can to bring Spider-Man back to the top of the food chain- which is where he lived during the Raimi/Maguire administration. The first iteration of this reboot pulled in $752,216,557 worldwide, while Sam Raimi’s infamously-despised Spider-Man 3 raked in $890,871,626. Even Raimi’s first Spidey film made $821,708,551 worldwide- and that was in 2002. Adjust that sucker for inflation and it really dwarfs the reboot.
So Sony knows it has its work cut out for it, especially since the reaction to the reboot was a mix of “That was pretty cool” and “Didn’t we just see this all ready?” What the reboot did manage to prove, though, is that Spider-Man is still more popular than Superman at the cinema, with Man of Steel making $90 million less with $662,845,518. But okay, enough analysis. Let’s get you to the reason you clicked on this article- The new promo images:

I will say, this is my favorite look of any cinematic Spider-Man. He’s got that youthful, skinny look that I’ve always preferred, and the costume feels completely ripped from the comics.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings into cinemas on May 2. The film will once again star Andrew Garfield as webhead, and director Marc Webb is still at the helm of this super-sized sequel that will find our hero facing off against multiple threats.
