Sony Pictures sent out a fresh image from their upcoming “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” The shot is of Jamie Foxx’s character, Max Dillon, seemingly moments before transforming into Electro.
The sequel, directed by Marc Webb, comes out May 2, 2014. With an impressive cast that includes holdovers Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, and Sally Field but also adds Chris Cooper, Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamatti, Colm Feore, B.J. Novak, and Sarah Gadon into the mix, the film looks to delve deeper into the rebooted storyline from the first film. In this new take on the Spider-Man mythos, his mysterious past plays a large part, and this movie looks to continue exploring what happened to his parents.
If I may interject some personal opinion here, it’s that the lighting, costuming, and characterization I’ve seen from Foxx so far gives this production a slightly unsettling Joel Schumacher Batman-vibe.
