While promoting his latest film at TIFF (August: Osage County), Chris Cooper was asked about his role as Norman Osborn in the upcoming Amazing-Spider sequel. Though the actor didn’t say a lot, he hinted that the film would introduce his villain, and eventually lead to bigger things in the third installment.
In The Amazing-Spider Man 2, Cooper will play Normal Osborn, the alter-ego of The Green Goblin. However, the sequel film will probably feature him as a more tame villain, since the main focus will be on Jamie Foxx’s Electro. Here’s what Cooper said about his role in the second installment:
“This is an introduction to Normal Osborn and, apparently, this leads to better things in The Amazing Spider-Man 3.”
He added that, “it’s fair to say that he’s on his last legs,” but then stopped himself, noting that he didn’t think he could say anything else (without getting in trouble). The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is directed by Marc Webb and co-stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Dane DeHaan, Foxx is aboard as Electro with Paul Giamatti as Rhino.
The superhero movie will open in theaters on May 2, 2014.
