As you might already know, Shailene Woodley will not be appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Her character (Mary Jane) was cut from the film, and won’t make it in until the the following sequel. Now, a source has come forth to reveal exactly why the character was cut.
I’ll admit that I’m not very excited about the forthcoming Spider-Man sequel. The original was a let down, and my expectations for the sequel aren’t high at all. But, I’ll admit that I was looking forward to seeing Woodley give us her impression of Mary Jane, because she’s a pretty good actress.
The reason we won’t be seeing Woodley until Spider-Man 3 is because Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy will be killed off at the end of the next film. A source revealed:
MAJOR SPOILERS!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
Emma Stone’s character dies in the next film and that really would take a bunch out of the film if Spider-Man all the sudden starts dating a new girl so close to an important character’s death. They were noticing this occurring as they filmed Shailene’s scenes. They want to make the death of Gwen Stacy really mean something and then it will leave room for Shailene to shine in the third film.
So there you have it. Spider-Man 2 will be Emma Stone’s last Spidy movie. Also Gwen Stacy’s relationship with Spider-Man will be the focus of the sequel. What do you think?
